Some people prefer to use a standalone fitted sheet, as they may simply wash their quilt cover when they wash their sheet. Others prefer to use a flat sheet so they don't need to wash their quilt cover as often since it avoids being in direct contact with the skin. As humans naturally perspire as they sleep, regardless of your sleeping set-up choice, we recommend washing anything that is in direct contact with you at least once a week. 

No matter what combination of sheets you're after, we will have an option for you. Bed Sheet Sizes

When it comes to sheet sizing, you want to match your sheets to your mattress size. This is one area where we don't recommend upsizing - fitted sheets need to be fitted! You could upsize your flat sheet, but you'd need to buy it separately, and you'd need to know how far it would drape over the sides of your bed.

There are many mattress sizes on the market, so here's a list of what sheeting sizes we have:

It's super important to mention that sheets can be bought in different depths as some mattresses come with thick mattress toppers (for added comfort), and those mattresses require deeper sheets. Standard sheets are typically 33cm to 40cm deep, while our range of mega sheets is 50cm deep (to fit a taller height or pillow-top mattress, or in some cases a standard heigh mattress with an extra thick topper), and Deluxe sheets are 60cm deep (to fit mattresses with pillowing at the top and bottom or extra tall options).

We recommend you check the dimensions of your mattress before you start shopping for your next sheet set - make sure you include any add-ons, like toppers, protectors, electric blankets or pillow-tops, to get the right number. Another great tip is to always look at the dimensions of the sheet set, as sometimes different brands have slightly different sizing.

Bed Sheet Types

There are so many options when it comes to bed sheet types that it can be overwhelming to make sense of it all. We're going to give you the rundown on the most common sheet types available.

It's also a good time to mention thread count. Thread count refers to the total number of threads per square inch of fabric. A higher thread count is usually associated with higher quality fabrics, as it's thought to make the sheets softer and more durable – but material type, weave and quality of fibre are more important. 

We encourage you to think about the texture, weight and temperature that is cosiest for you when deciding on the type of sheets you buy. We stock a wide range of sheets with various compositions, thread counts and weaves so as to ensure we offer an option for everyone's preference.

1000 thread count sheets

1000 thread count sheets are extremely popular. However, it's good to know that there are often two different kinds: a cotton option and a 'cotton rich' option. 'Cotton rich' means polyester cotton, which is a way to make these sheets less expensive while still having a higher thread count - because suppliers know that lots of consumers like the idea of a high thread count. 

If you're aware of what the 1000thc title means and are still looking for them, we recommend the Sheridan Hotel Luxury 1000 THC Cotton Sateen Sheets Range. These are 100% cotton 1000 thread count sheets – they have a heavy feel, beautiful lustre and soft touch. However, if you don't like a heavy sheet, we recommend giving the 1000thc goal a miss and reading on!

Bamboo sheets

Unlike mid or high-thread count 'sateen weave' sheet sets, bed sheets made from bamboo or a blend of bamboo and cotton fibres will naturally achieve that soft and silky feel due to the naturally soft, moisture-wicking properties inherited from the bamboo fibres. Bamboo sheets are perfect for those warmer months, and if you're a particularly hot sleeper, we recommend avoiding traditional high thread sheets - which, although they feel silky & soft, tend to be heavier and breathe less. 

Being a hypoallergenic and breathable fibre, bamboo sheets are also ideal for those with allergies or those who tend to perspire a lot in bed. Great bamboo sheet options include sets from Armidayle's Bamboo Eco Range or Linen House's Nara Sheet Sets Range.

Egyptian cotton sheets 

Egyptian cotton sheets makes for a matte-looking and crisp feeling sheet. Made exclusively from cotton sourced in Egypt, Egyptian cotton fibres are typically longer in length than regular cotton fibres, meaning that when those fibres get woven into a yarn, the result is a softer and more durable fabric. 

Flannelette sheets

Flannelette sheets are essentially brushed cotton sheets, and they are traditionally used in winter. They're a weighted product, so we measure them in grams per square meter (GSM) rather than thread count. They retain warmth but are more breathable than polyester sheets. 

Microfibre sheets

Microfibre sheets are a polyester blend, ideal for commercial use if you own an Airbnb or Stayz rental or if you struggle to warm up and stay warm at night. They are affordable and durable and will retain their quality over time.   A great option for hotel sheets is the Actil First Line Cotton Sheet Set Range.

Sateen sheets

Jersey Sheets

Jersey sheets are made from a type of knit fabric, often cotton or a blend, that is incredibly soft, flexible, and breathable. They are well-loved for their stretchy and casual feel that resembles your favourite worn-in t-shirt. These sheets are also wrinkle-resistant, adding to their easy-care appeal.

Luxury sheets

Any well-made sheet set would qualify as luxurious, but linen sheets, in particular, are the face of modern, luxury sheets. While these aren't the sort of sheets you'd find in a hotel, they are premium sheets and have a beautifully soft, organic feel to them.
